A new day in access management

I’ll never forget the challenges of the year 2003...

Back then I was on the tail end of some fairly significant SAP deployments which merged a number of large and small business units onto a single instance of SAP.  As a result, our SAP environment better than doubled in size to approximately 4,000 users.  And rather than dealing with users across two geographic locations, we were now handling users across approximately twelve.  Thank goodness everyone spoke English!

Meanwhile, I was receiving a number of calls and requests for meetings from our external auditors. They were anxious to know how we were planning to address the looming requirements that SOX would impose on our SAP environment.

After meeting with these astute auditors, I realized that a manual solution to the audit requirements was not an option.

Fast forward to 2017, when SAP innovations have taken us to a whole new level of efficiency in our risk assessment and compliance capabilities. It’s extraordinary to look back and see how far we have come in addressing these requirements through automation.  The power of technology to solve complex business challenges never ceases to amaze me.  And as with other technology driven markets, innovation in the area of user access management continues.

But despite the progress and significant ROI which has been achieved through automation of user access and the related compliance requirements, there are still many challenges and opportunities to drive down risk while increasing the ROI of these initiatives.

As a result, organizations are ripe for the next wave of innovation.  So I am excited that Security Weaver will usher in a new day in access management – we call it ERP Access Management 2.0 – with the release of Automated Mitigations, our newest Security Weaver module for SAP user access management. This leading-edge product is the convergence of a decade and a half of learning combined with a focus on using big-data to drive artificial intelligence into our solutions. Automated Mitigations allows business stakeholders to focus on real rather than theoretical user access risk, prioritized by the financial impact of each risk notated event.

Our release of the new Automated Mitigations module in Q1 2017 is only the beginning. Stay tuned to our blog posts for more details and announcements related to future innovations.
